It's been formally announced that a sequel to Dario Argento's cult classic 1985 horror film, Phenomena is currently in active development. With the horror maestro's latest work Dark Glasses coming to Shudder, it's been revealed that Titanus Studios has partnered with the U.S. based company The Exchange to develop a direct continuation of the original film instead of going the remake route. Titanus is an Italian based production company that includes over 400 titles including directorial works by Federico Fellini and Damiano Damiani. Titanus' General Manager Stefano Bethlen announced the project at this year's MIA Market stating that a Phenomena sequel will be "an American film with a U.S. director and U.S. and international talents", and will be "a present day sequel rather than a remake".
While this all sounds great, it seems suspect that Argento is in no way connected to the upcoming movie. We'll be keeping our eyes on this project as it goes into further development.
