At last, the long running book series The Destroyer will see another life in a live action series that's currently in development from Sony Pictures Television. The novels which were originally turned into an '80s action film starring Fred Ward proved to be a box office flop when originally released. However, it went on to gain a loyal cult following. For decades now the character has not been revamped for the screen. Well, all that is changing. Sony Pictures Television is working hand in hand with Gordon Smith, one of the folks behind Better Call Saul, to develop the character as a television series. Smith will be on board as a writer and executive producer.

The Destroyer series of books focuses on a newly trained government operative that was framed for a crime he did not commit. He's given reconstructive facial surgery and trained in martial arts.

The book series currently has around 150 entries and was first adapted to screen with Fred Williams starring as Remo Williams. Since then, the character has seen several attempts to relaunch but none ever worked out. There is no official word on where it will air or the time frame for the series.
