No matter if you're a fan or not, James Cameron's latest science fiction action spectacle has crossed a major marker at the global box office. Many were concerned that the film would not be a hit for the studio but have been wrong in all their assumptions about the power of blue aliens. Avatar: The Way of Water has officially crossed the $1 billion mark after only 14 days in the global market. The movie crossed this milestone on Tuesday and is only the sixth movie to ever make this much in just two weeks.

On Tuesday alone, the movie drummed up another $23.8 million in the U.S. market and went on to gross another $50 million in foreign cinemas. It has already crossed over $317 million domestically and $712.7 million globally. This brings the total grosses to $1.029 billion worldwide. Foreign numbers are led by China's $108 million so far.

This further proves that Avatar will continue to be a hit for Cameron and the studio. He is currently at work on the third film in the franchise.
