Now that work is officially underway on the sequel to the popular science fiction action flick, Joe Cornish has teased that the sequel will be taking a similar approach to James Cameron's Aliens and Terminator 2. Cornish will be returning to the director's chair for the anxiously awaited sequel and John Boyega will be back as the main character in the film. While all plot details are still be kept secret by everyone involved, Cornish recently spoke to The Kingcast about the project:
"We have a very detailed treatment and a storyline we're very very excited about...and when I say 'we', I mean me and John Boyega, who I'm co-producing the film with and consulting very closely with. And we're doing all the research to make sure we get it right."
He added:
"We think about Alien and Aliens and Terminator and Terminator 2 and we wanna take a shot at doing our version of what people did for those movies."
Those Cameron films were centered around smaller stories but had massive action set pieces and went crazy with visual effects. If that's what he means, we're all in.
