Chalk another one up to James Cameron as he's continuing to rack up records at the global box office. His Avatar: The Way of Water has officially surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens and has become the fourth highest grossing movie of all time. The original Avatar still maintains its number one status and remains the biggest film of all time.

The Force Awakens completed its global run with $2.064 billion but has now been dominated by Cameron's newest sci-fi action spectacle as it hit the $2.075 mark and is continuing to make money in theaters across the world in multiple formats.

Cameron now owns three of the top four movies of all time including Avatar, Titanic, and The Way of Water. Avengers: Endgame also currently sits in the top four with $2.79 billion.

For a film that's said to have "no cultural relevance", Cameron's story about Pandora certainly seems to be doing very well. It won't be surprising if it continues to climb in coming weeks. The movie still has a lot of folks returning to see it several times.
