Now that things are finally getting squared away with James Gunn's retooled DCU film and television universe, it looks like Swamp Thing may get another shot at the movies. Director James Mangold (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford vs Ferrari, Logan) is in early talks to helm a rebooted film about the famed DC character. He would take up duties on this project after he completes his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic. While he hasn't signed quite yet, it's said that there is an offer on the table for him to snag the project. This is exciting news for movie fans and comic book fans alike. Mangold has a proven track record at this point.

This comes hot on the heels of James Gunn's big announcements yesterday about the newly rebooted shared universe that he'll be helming. Gunn announced that the new DC entertainment division will be going for a more shared type relaunch that will actually have continuity across movies, television, gaming and comics. This comes as good news to long time fans of DC.

Swamp Thing was previously turned into two live action films and a short lived television show that was cancelled during its first season.
