Vin Diesel recently took to Instagram to celebrate the fact that a fourth Riddick movie is officially moving forward and that the trilogy of films is doing very well on Netflix. Apparently the first three movies in the ongoing science fiction action saga have entered the top ten on the streaming service which is a good sign that there is still interest in the character of Riddick, the galaxy venturing man in goggles that battles aliens and bad guys in each of the three films.

While it's been years since the last adventure, Diesel and David Twohy have been actively working on a fourth film for quite some time. It was recently announced that the new movie would be coming out in the next couple years with production hopefully beginning sometime in 2023 or 2024. It's expected to be in theaters in 2025.

The next feature will be titled Furya and will exclusively center around Riddick's home world. When he finally returns to his planet, he will be faced with a new alien that is attempting to take over the planet and he'll team up with a batch of Furyans to battle this new enemy. We're hoping that they stick with the smaller type story that was featured in Pitch Black and the third movie, Riddick. The second, Chronicles of Riddick abandoned formula and was both a critical and financial failure for the studio.
