Somehow, She's Returned: Daisy Ridley To Return as Rey in New Star Wars Movie

After a number of cancellations including Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, it looks like Kathleen Kennedy and crew are back attempting to revitalize the Star Wars cinematic universe with three new films. The movies were announced today at Star Wars Celebration 2023. With Daisy Ridley teasing the last couple weeks that she would love to return to the character of Rey, saying that she needed work, it looks like she will officially return to the role in a story that will take place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

There has been no official title announced for the film at this point, but Ms. Marvel director Sharmein Obaid-Chinoy will be helming the project which will hopefully stay on the production schedule as time goes on. While some of us fans think it's time for the entire Skywalker timeline to end, it seems that Kennedy has other plans for the galaxy far, far away.

Unlike many of the other main actors in the sequel trilogy, Ridley seems to be fond of her time in the Star Wars franchise and has often said she would return. Other stars like John Boyega don't seem so likely to want a comeback. Boyega has repeatedly voiced his disdain for how his character was treated with an arc that was ultimately abandoned for action.

We look forward to seeing where this thing goes!
