More Than Meets the Eye: Tranformers Defeats Spider-Man At The Box Office

This weekend proved to be an all out brawl at the box office. It was transforming space robots against mutant spider people in an all own fight to the box office death. Optimus Prime and his pals came out on top, defeating the latest Spider-Verse flick in ticket sales. No one really knew what to expect and some thought that this newest iteration of the war between Autobots and Decepticons would prove a fool's errand against Miles Morales and his team up of spider people. But Steven Caple's Rise of the Beasts ended up powering to the top of the heap.

Transformers ended up with $60.5 million in receipts from 3678 domestic theaters which is up a ton from Bumblebee's opening weekend of $21.5 million and The Last Knight's $44.68 million opening frame. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse wasn't too far off with another $55 million added to its growing pile of cash.

Rise of the Beasts has had extremely mixed reviews from critics, but doesn't seem to matter in the war between robots from Cybertron. We'll have to see how it holds out against The Flash when it opens this weekend.
