Barbenheimer To Rule Them All: Barbie/Oppenheimer Expected to Wreck The Haunted Mansion This Weekend

It's amazing to see what's happening in theaters since last weekend. The combination of Barbie and Oppenheimer made for huge box office receipts and the biggest total weekend of the entire year. The duo of the two films brought in over $310 million, making it an absolutely epic release weekend. It also proved to be the fourth biggest weekend in the history of cinema. Both movies were expected to be huge hits but these numbers are absolutely amazing considering the last few years of the pandemic keeping theaters at a stand still.

With all that said, it looks like Disney may be in for another surprise. Early reporting from numerous box office sources say that their Haunted Mansion will most likely not rise to the top. The combo of Barbie and Oppenheimer is expected to draw another $107 million which is a 56 percent drop from last weekend but still a huge draw!

According to Deadline:"Exhibition and pre-sales indicate a $30m+ for the Justin Simien directed feature take of the Disney theme park ride. But it wouldn't be a surprise if the movie comes in between $20m-$25m."

This would be another major disappointment for the Mouse House as they're still reeling from the financial failures of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. We'll hold out for final numbers but it looks like Disney may be in more trouble as the summer rolls on.
