Just when you thought you were safe from more reboots and remakes, it looks like Return of the Living Dead is getting its very own update. Along side other classics like Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, the horror genre is always brewing with brand new takes on our favorite titles. And next up is a sixth Return of the Living Dead flick.
The original 1985 release from Dan O'Bannon has a large cult following and is an amazing spectacle of practical effects work, great gore, and a blend of comedy. The newest film as confimed by Living Dead Media's website is not going to be a straight reboot but will serve as another continuation in the franchise which already has 5 films:
"Our reboot of Return of the Living Dead will expand the existing world created by the original 5 films while staying true to the R-rated sci-fi, horror, dark comedy roots adored by fans of the cult classic around the world for the last 35 years."
They continued:
"We are excited to resurrect this storied franchise for current fans and new generations of zombie fans."
Steve Wolsh who previously directed Kill Her Goats is attached to direct the relaunched franchise.
