The latest Mission:Impossible entry is ramping up at the box office. The seventh entry in the long running action franchise scored high financial marks in its first couple days of early release. The film officially opened today and will continue to hit more theaters during the week. In early screenings it took in just over $7 million. However, the $7 million does not include grosses from Premium Large Format screenings. Those are expected to add much higher grosses when fully tabulated.
This is a great early take for the movie which cost roughly $290 million to produce. It's one of the highest budgets ever alongside The Dial of Destiny which cost $295 million to make. But unlike the new Indiana Jones movie, it's expected to have a rock solid box office and will end up making a profit.
The last M:I movie, Fallout raked in $6 million on its opening Thursday night. That movie ended up being a huge hit for Cruise and his counterparts. Dead Reckoning Part One opened in 3300 early markets but will expand to over 4000 this week.
Mission:Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two will be in theaters on June 28th, 2024. The film series is based on the classic espionage television show and is expected to continue on past its eighth entry. Tom Cruise recently said he wants to make these movies into his eighties.
