It looks like the long awaited Alien television series will be moving ahead....but not until the writer's striking and impending SAG strike are both over. The show, which has been in the developmental stages for nearly two years now will be one of the latest projects to suffer a long delay as Hollywood officially shuts down while its creatives and actors demand better pay and benefits.

Noah Hawley (Fargo) has been working on the show for some time now which will be an FX on Hulu series. It's another new project that takes place in the Alien universe but won't be part of the filmed continuity. The series (when able) will go be filming in Thailand as reported via Variety.

Ridley Scott's production banner Scott Free is behind the series but Scott is not involved as a writer on the show. Apparently, Hawley is the main person in control of the upcoming show.

FX head John Landgraf had this to say about the series:

"There are some big surprises in store for the audience. Alien takes place before Ripley. It's the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth. So, it takes place on our planet. Right around the end of this century we're in. So, 70 odd years from now. Ripley won't be a part of it or any of the other characters of alien other than the alien itself"
