It looks like Denzel Washington will officially be calling it quits on The Equalizer franchise with the upcoming third film in the series. The movie trilogy which is based on the television show eventually made its way to cinemas with Denzel taking up the role of the highly trained assassin, Robert McCall. The film which will hit theaters on September 1st, 2023 is the final chapter in this trilogy as Denzel says he believe the character finally finds some sort of peace.

When speaking with Empire, the actor had this to say about the end chapter of the trilogy:

"I don't want to say he's found happiness, and I don't want to give it all away, but he meets someone lovely, he's in a lovely town, and he seems to be at peace. That seems to be a good place to stop."

This marks the first time that Washington has reunited with his Man on Fire co-star Dakota Fanning. It sounds like he knows when it's time to put the finishing touches on a franchise and it may go out on a proper note without extending it beyond its shelf life. We look forward to seeing what happens in The Equalizer 3. This also marks the third pairing of Washington and Antoine Fuqua as he's directed all three films.
