George A. Romero may have died back in 2017, but that's not stopping his estate from moving forward with a "seventh and final installment" in his long running zombie franchise. It's been announced today that they're moving ahead with another film about the undead called, Twilight of the Dead. The movie was initially announced back in 2021 but was stalled due to ongoing problems caused by the pandemic and numerous other issues. Deadline is reporting that Roundtable Entertainment will be funding the project and will film in Puerto Rico. No director has been attached to the movie quite yet but an announcement is expected very soon.

Romero left behind a script treatment before his death. Now his notes have been turned into a full script care of Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paulo Zelati. The movie would serve as the concluding chapter to Romero's long running legacy of films about the zombie apocalypse. Previous movies were the original Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead.

Since this film is an independent feature, they have applied for an agreement that would allow filming to commence and for actors to work during the strike.
