James Wan's Conjuring universe continues to scare up profits at the domestic box office. This week's release of The Nun 2 looks to take over the number one spot and is meeting expectations of a weekend tally somewhere in the mid-$30 million range. The movie took in just over $3.1 million at Thursday night previews. Despite the numbers looking good for the movie's premiere it is nowhere near the original film's $53.8 million opening weekend. It will most likely continue to drum up good business as we head into Halloween season. It does seem weird that they chose to release it so early in September when it probably would have done better with an October opening date.

The Equalizer 3 starring Denzel Washington is expected to take the number two spot with another $11-12 million. This is a 60 percent drop from it's opening weekend but is expected to have legs since so many movies are dropping off the schedule due to the ongoing strikes.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is expected to die a certain death with less than $10 million in receipts. The film series has seen a definite drop over the course of its run. This one is not expected to be a hit by any means.
