We're not hear to confirm or deny, but it looks like J.J. Abrams has met another science fiction film that he wants to remake. The man has built a career on remaking or rebooting franchises and looks to be toiling with another classic '80s science fiction brand. Several sources, many of which are not fully reputable, have reported in the last two days that Abrams is now connected to a remake of Krull, a fantasy sci-fi flick that came hot on the heels of Return of the Jedi, opening in July of 1983. The film, which had a limited budget of around $30 million was a box office flop and was called out for its copy/paste script at the time.

However, over the years, the movie has developed quite a cult following and has been rumored for a full reboot from several different studios and directors. Sadly, the original release never even recouped its full production budget at the box office. Perhaps this might be a perfect reason to do a full on reboot at this time. It never got sequels and was never milked for every dime it's worth.

The original film was produced by Columbia Pictures who was eventually soaked up by Sony. The rumor mill states that it looks like Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to the project on the down low and looks to fully invest in making this the next science fiction franchise.

We'll be over here holding out hope that someone can do something cool with this brand.
