I Want to Suck Your Blood: Blacula To Return in New Movie for Halloween 2024

It looks like Blacula will rise again with an upcoming production from MGM, Bron, and Hidden Empire Film Group. Deaon Taylor is currently on board to to direct the reboot/sequel. The film was initially announced in 2021, but the project stagnated and is finally beginning to pick up steam. It is said to be a modern take on the character and will pick up after the events of the coronavirus pandemic. 

This will be the first time that Blacula has re-appeared since the 1973 sequel, Scream Blacula Scream. It's being reported that the movie will be released around Halloween 2024. The movie is a well known and respected spin on the vampire genre. A small synopsis has been revealed for the reboot:

"Blacula is an ancient African prince who is cursed by Dracula after he fails to agree to end the slave trade. Blacula is entombed and awakens 200 years later ready to avenge the death of his ancestors and of those responsible for robbing his people of their work, culture and heritage as they appropriated it for profit."

Deon Taylor has partnered with Micah Ranum to pen the script.
