For years, fans have been waiting for the 4K release of James Cameron's The Abyss. With no official announcement on the home release date for the 4K remaster, it's just been announced that there will be a one night screening for the classic science fiction film.

The movie will be released on December 6th, 2023 and will be in limited theaters. Tickets go on sale on November 20th via Fandango or other online ticket retailers.

James Cameron has been quoted as saying,"If you haven't seen the film before, this is the way to experience it. And if you have, it will be like the first time all over again. So, get out to theaters and enjoy!"

It's been chronicled that The Abyss would be getting a 4K treatment for quite some time. Hopefully this is the positive momentum we've been looking for and we're holding out that this may come along with an announcement for that release as well. Cameron is known for his arduous shoots and pushing the envelope of technology. The Abyss was one of the first films to use an extensive amount of computer generated imagery.
