After the major box office success of last year's horror flick Smile, a sequel was almost immediately announced by the studio. While there have been more rumblings, there has been little news about the follow up to the hit movie. The original film starred Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and went on to make tons of money for the studio against a meager budget. Of course, a follow up is necessary and will be going into production in the near future. The first movie grossed over $217 million worldwide.

Tonight, it's been announced that Naomi Scott will star in the feature sequel that is scheduled for October 18th, 2024. Scott is known for her previous roles in Power Rangers, Aladdin, and the latest movie version of Charlie's Angels. Original director Parker Finn will continue on with the second movie, heading up the project.

"Never in a million years did I think that people were going to be asking me for another one of these movies, which is amazing. I think there's a lot of exciting stuff that could be done in the world of Smile. There's a lot of corners that I purposefully left unexplored and things that I wish I  could have done in the first one, but there just wasn't enough room.", said Finn.
