John Boyega is set to lead a new television series based on the 2010 post apocalyptic action movie, The Book of Eli. Boyega will be on board the series as the lead star and will also serve in an executive producer role. The new show will be written by Gary Whitta and will be a prequel to the film, telling the tale of the earlier years of the main character making his way across the wasteland.
The movie which is considered a neo-Western sci-fi film also starred Gary Oldman as the primary villain and maintains an audience to this day. Mila Kunis also starred. The movie took place 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe that caused global devastation. Apparently, the series will be the early years, chronicling Eli's escapades decades prior to the movie.
There are few details known at this point as far as a release window, but it's said that the show is being shopped around to several streaming platforms at this time. This will be another huge step forward for Boyega as he continues to move away from the Star Wars sequel trilogy and finds new and interesting projects.
