In a world where nothing is sacred and the classics don't get the respect they deserve, it looks like Lionsgate Pictures is in the early stages of developing a new take on Stephen King's The Dead Zone. The original film which premiered in 1983 starred Christopher Walken as a man that develops psychic powers after awaking from a coma. His journey sees him attempting to save the world from a pre-emptive nuclear strike by the U.S. president. The film still holds up to this day and was eventually turned into a long running television show that starred Anthony Michael Hall.

Now, Lionsgate looks to reboot the story once again and will modernize it. No details about the project have been confirmed at this point. But, news also broke that they're wanting to do a modern retelling of American Psycho as well. Numerous outlets including Bloody Disgusting broke news about the two projects late yesterday.

The Dead Zone is based on King's best selling 1979 novel. It was one of the first book to movie translations for one of his original works. At the time it made roughly $20 million in box office sales.
