The live action He-Man and the Masters of the Universe film is finally taking shape at Amazon. After years of development hell, it looks like this movie will finally be going into production some time in the very near future. After the original film starring Dolph Lundgren turned out to be a major flop for the studio, plans to continue the series were ultimately dashed and the property would sit dormant for decades other than numerous animated incarnations and streaming series. A new movie has been discussed and tossed around between studios over and over again with the project continually being cancelled or shelved until the property finally made its way to Amazon Studios where it finally seems to be gaining the traction it needed.

Today it was announced that Alison Brie will take up the role of the series' main female antagonist, Evil-Lyn. Brie has racked up some major film roles in recent years and recently starred in the Netflix series, Glow which was unfortunately cancelled. She's currently featured in the Peacock thriller, Apples Never Fall. She joins Nicholas Galitzine who will be playing the main character of He-Man.

The film franchise has been sitting on the shelf waiting for a recharge for nearly two decades total with no real momentum. Travis Knight, Kubo and the Two Strings will be taking up directorial duties on the film.

This news broke earlier and has been confirmed and reported by Variety and numerous other sources.
