28 Years Later: Third Film Moving Ahead With Cillian Murphy To Star

It looks like Danny Boyle's trilogy of films is officially moving forward. Despite a mixed critical response and a box office that didn't quite support a three film arc, it's been announced that his final film in the trilogy will move forward. There was trepidation on the part of the studio from the release of the first chapter. They weren't sure if the third and concluding movie would ever go into production. With Nia DaCosta's sequel, The Bone Temple prepping for release, it's looking like the studio has given the green light to the closing chapter.

Alex Garland will be penning the script with Danny Boyle returning to direct. With 28 Years Later only making $151 million at the box office, the executives were not quite sure that we'd get the third chapter. Today, it's been announced that it will be happening and apparently Cillian Murphy will return to star in the film alongside Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell.

Early screenings have been extremely positive for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, unlike the split criticisms of the last entry in the franchise. This may garner some more positive momentum for the brand when it hits theaters on January 16th.
